GOLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATORS

We are a network of persons that consider schools to be important social actors. We also believe that education has to stimulate the students – as well as the teacher – towards a wide understanding of themselves and of the world. It must offer them the opportunity to contribute to a just society: a society that reflects about the structural causes of poverty and exclusion, and that consequently, could address them. Let’s get to know each other better: click  here.

THE INTERNATIONAL MANIFESTO

We believe that education has to develop citizens that are aware of the current challenges, are capable of understanding their responsibility towards the environment and towards humanity, and that are aware of the strong potential of dialogue and participatory democracy. Educating for a global citizenship is one of the most logical answers to the challenges put across by our times. Read the International Manifesto Educating for a Global Citizenship.

CONECTANDO MUNDOS
An alternative space where teachers and students from different countries and different cultural, economic and social backgrounds can exchange their experiences and work together to build a world that is more just. The didactic proposal of scholastic year 2008/2009 is centred on the topic of the model of development, with focus on energies and transport. To learn more or to request a (free) registration, visit conectando mundos: the butterfly effect. Until 21 December 2008, the registrations to the activity are open.

FIRST INTERNATIONAL MEETING

Approximately 90 educators coming from different countries have participated in the first international meeting on education for a global citizenship, held in Cortona, between the 19 and 21 July 2008. All are convinced of the strategic importance of formal education for the formation of citizens able to contribute to the construction of a more just world.
